Basketball Jumping Drills

The basketball jumping drills I am about to show you were the exact drills I used to increase my vertical jump by 13 inches in a four month period. That's right, because when you know the correct training principles you can really start to get a bigger vertical very quickly. So if this interests you then check this out!

Back when I was in high school I was doing the wrong basketball jumping drills. For example I was being told to do exercises that were not directly building muscle in my body. Instead the exercises I was doing were only toning up my muscles and thus not building my explosive power up! This wasted months and months of my time and it was only when I did my own research when I started to understand what I really needed to do.

It is all about intensity and heavy lifting when it comes to strength training. I was doing squats when I was in high school but I wasn't performing them correctly. I should have been doing 5 reps with heavy weight rather than 50 reps with light weight. Now pay attention because I want to show you a complete workout session which I found to be very effective.

Basketball jumping drills:

Start with a warm up on a bike and cycle at medium intensity for about 5 minutes. After this begin some light stretching in your legs and arms as you are going to want to be as flexible as you can to avoid injury.

Find yourself a barbell and then perform squats. You may want to have supervision if you are lifting heavy weight if you cannot perform a rep in good form. Simply perform 4 sets of 5 reps with heavy weight and this will really work the leg muscles and strengthen your fast twitch muscle fibres.

Next, go over to the leg press machine and perform 4 sets of 8 reps with heavy weight. Steadily increase the weight each set and lower the amount of reps each set as well.

Then find a barbell of a calf raise machine and perform 4 sets of calf raises with heavy weights. Calf raises are great to work out your calf as there are so few exercises for these muscles.

That's your strength training basketball jumping drills sorted! However you need to incorporate many more types of exercises into your weekly schedule if you are going to add serious height to your vertical.
